The closest we came to getting into strife: John had the car in gear throughout. We were watching an elephant when it started to 'pretend eat' – just put its trunk to its mouth, a sign it's getting agitated. It then started flexing its ears and shaking its head. I've cropped out the door frame on most other pics, but I've left it in here for a sense of scale; how close we were to it. 4.20pm February 26th 2003
